IMAGE DIAGNOSTICS

DIGITAL RADIOLOGY

In digital radiology, the radiographic or X-ray image is displayed live on a computer monitor. With this method, the type of response of the sensors is such that, within certain limits, it is possible to obtain diagnostic images even with lower exposures of X-rays. We decided to make use of this technique, since, compared to the traditional one, it has a range of advantages, such as less patient exposure, compensation of exposure errors, image processing or post-processing (modifying brightness, contrast, filters, measurements), archiving (you can retrieve patient data at any time), teleconsultation (expert specialists can, even remotely, view the images and provide a diagnostic opinion).

ULTRASOUND AND ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY

Ultrasound is a diagnostic imaging technique based on the echoes produced by an ultrasound beam that passes through an organ or tissue. Its wide use is due to its harmlessness, relative cost-effectiveness and in particular its diagnostic sensitivity to diseases involving soft tissues. CALEIDOS clinic offers ultrasound and echocardiographic tests, useful for analysing abdominal and thoracic organs, indicated for the diagnosis and for the follow-up of conditions such as pulmonary hypertension, heart disease, anatomical and structural defects, tumour masses, pregnancies, etc.

DIGESTIVE ENDOSCOPY

An endoscopic test is a minimally invasive procedure, performed after general anaesthesia of the patient. By inserting an optical instrument equipped with micro-cameras that transmit images to a screen (endoscope)  into the digestive tract, we can see the digestive system from within, live. Oesophago-gastroscopy allows you to examine the oesophagus, stomach and first section of the small intestine (duodenum); colonoscopy, on the other hand, evaluates the rectum, colon and, in some cases, also the ileum (last part of the small intestine). The purposes of digestive endoscopy are both diagnostic and therapeutic; we make use of this method, on the one hand, to identify injuries to the gastrointestinal mucosa, such as erosions, ulcerations and tumours, which we may then subject to a biopsy, and on the other hand to remove foreign bodies, dilate oesophagal strictures, remove pedunculated masses, and so on.

For this service we work with specialist third-party clinics.
